CHS Directors

The Statewide Community Health Service Directors met in October 2006 to discuss alignment of activities throughout the Alaska Tribal Health System (ATHS).  Although the variation of programs is a challenge from region to region; there was agreement that collaboration, alignment, and integration of collective efforts while maintaining the autonomy of individual programs and priorities is a strength.

The CHS Directors will meet/interact as long as there is value-added contribution to the improvement of the health status of Alaska Natives.

The purpose of the meetings will include but not be limited to:

  • Improving communication and networking among CHS programs
  • Exchange program information and best practices
  • Continue discussion of development and collaboration on ATHS-wide CHS goals
  • Understand the role, if any, of CHS Directors in the work of other committees/workgroups
  • Compliment/support existing regional and/or ATHS-wide plans
  • Help to quantify the cost avoidance/cost savings of Health Promotion & Disease Prevention activities
  • Share strategies for "engaging communities"
  • Serve as the sounding board for ANTHC CHS
